Monochromatic Landscape
Overview: The above image was created using multiple hues of a single color. It shows a unique image that is simplistic and different from anything I have created before. Due to the nature of the image the final project only took me about half an hour to complete.
Process: The image was created using only a few of the tools found within Photoshop 2018. The main tool was the lasso which was used to created the outline of each landscape. The foreground uses the original color, a dark red that was randomly selected. After outlining the foreground with the lasso it was then filled using the paint bucket tool. I then repeated the process on a layer placed below and filled it with a lighter hue of the foreground color. This was repeated until the general outline was finished. Next I rendered a tree in a separate document and used it to define a custom brush. Once done the tree could be placed anywhere in the image easily and in any color I wanted, providing more detail. To edit the sky I used a brush with a softness of zero so that it would appear to be a hazy, blending shade of the lightest maroon I could do. To create the hiker I used a stock, free to use PNG that I found in the free to use with modification refinement of google images. This was then placed into the image and changed to match the color of the foreground. Finally, I used a brush with a hardness of one-hundred and used it to add accents to the mountain and cliff foreground in a slightly altered hue.
For the future: In all honestly I am perfectly happy with the final product. The only different choice that I might make is to use more than one type of custom brush so that I could add more objects to the landscape. However, I think for the wilderness subject of the image there is enough detail. It is supposed to have a simple appearance anyways so this might present conflicting characteristics in the image that detract from the success of the project.
